Edward & Cynthia Institute of Public Health ( ECIPH) was officially an academic partner at two side events at COP29 UNFCCC meeting at Baku, Azerbaijan.
Represented by Dr. Edmond Fernandes, Hon. Director, ECIPH & Department Chief and Assistant Professor, Department of Public Health, Yenepoya (Deemed to be University), Edward & Cynthia Institute of Public Health ( ECIPH) engaged in a meeting at the Madagascar Pavilion of the Blue Zone on the discussion on Climate Financing for strengthening global health diplomacy and fostering human development. There was a panel discussion held at the Madagascar Pavilion moderated by Dr Edmond Fernandes and the panelists were Maria Walawender from the Lancet Countdown on Health and Climate Change, UK, Dr Logan Harper, Family Medicine Physician and Climate and Health Science Policy Fellow, University of Colorado, US and Dr. Jibril Owomugisha, Uganda Country Representative to UN Decade on Ecosystems Restoration.
Further the ECIPH was also a academic partner at the “Urban Health, Food Security and Climate Policies” conversation held at the SHARE Hub of the Blue Zone with a brilliant heavyweight panel moderated by Dr Edmond Fernandes. At the Share Hub, the panelists were Lauren Baker, Deputy Director, Global Alliance for the future of food, Sanjay Srivastava, Chief, DRR Section, UNESCAP Asia Pacific Region, Jess Beagley, Policy Lead, The Global Climate and Health Alliance, Sira Secka, Negotiator for The Gambia at COP and Gulbaniz Ganbarova, Chairperson, Azerbaijan Rural Women’s Association. Dr. Edmond Fernandes also represented the institutea at the Action on Food Hub meeting to discuss African and Asia perspectives on climate policies on food and nutrition curated by PELAM, Kenya.
